Another South African photographer feast for you today! This time it's Christine Meintjies.
Wellingtons - soooo cute!
The reflection shot on the right is sublime. And I love the horses!
I don't even like wine, but boy do I like this picture:
Gorgeous.

No link to her page? Aww, man....
ReplyDeleteAck! Apologies - I've fixed it now!
ReplyDeletevery pretty!! Her photos have such a soft and timeless feel to them. There aren't a ton that scream at me as "original" though. Did you think that too?
ReplyDeletecorrection: the purple balloons are WAY cool. :)
ReplyDeleteNala: I hadn't thought of it that way. I think I prefer beautiful over original...sometimes the "original" ones are a bit too out there for my taste, though sometimes they're pretty cool too! But as far as style goes, this is the sort of thing I'd love to emulate - last week's one too.
ReplyDeleteI prefer beautiful over original too!
ReplyDeleteI think I look for the creative side to photos more, you know? Something that tells me that photographer is special. Maybe it's becuase I don't have any formal training in the technical aspect that goes in to photography and therefore I have no healthy respect for it. Maybe to me that's just a "given." I do have training in things like colour, layout, balance...etc...
ReplyDeleteI dont' always enjoy looking at photographs that look exactly the same as all the others on the internet, you know? Like your ring shots! Those are all SO cool, you really try hard to think of things that are different. But I guess we all have different priorities. :)
Yeah you can really go nuts with cool stuff to do for ring shots! But I get what you're saying. I think what I love about Christine's photos is the feeling they evoke in me...I love how romantic and gooorgeous everything looks through her lens, and her soft black and whites are so light they could float away on a magical cloud, or something. I'm totally blathering now, but they make me feel lovely and happy inside.
ReplyDeleteI've found I prefer light photos to dark ones. This doesn't mean over or underexposed, of course, but there's another SA photographer who does really creative shots but his pics always look *dark* to me, and it feels almost oppressive. Christine's are so light that it's the opposite.
I don't know enough about it to say WHY, but I wish my pics were lighter and airier.
Just looking through your post. Would love to know what dark wedding photos look like. Who is the photographer?
ReplyDeleteShaelyn - the dark ones I was referring to are ones by J&D photography. I don't have the web addy; just google them and they will come up. They do very artistic stuff, but never light & airy, always dark with the couple lit up by lights.
